Purple Cane Tea Restaurant

Purple Cane Tea Restaurant is built revolving the idea behind utilising local recyclable materials. It is an herbal restaurant possessing its singular trait of engineering interior mechanisms solely using rattan. (a climbing palm subspecies)
The idea behind the project was to explore the materialistic value in rattan usage; how an object so slender can be combined among itself to produce a functioning segment within a whole active space. The material was chosen as an homage to its mass omnipresence found in numerous rain-forests rippled across this tropical country.

One among the many uses explored using rattan was its ability to compose a round arched tray. (crafted with the help of an artisan) These latter trays can be seen attached on the ceiling and walls enclosing its surroundings; the tray operates as a multipurpose element serving as an artistic aspect while simultaneously acting as a reflector bouncing radiance across said space.
Long tables and benches serviced as means of delivering a social dining vibe. This strategy was employed as an illusion to attract customers; as the canteen-seeming space would appear to be more crowded than it actually is to compensate for the large volume of space. The attempt at creating a congregation social zone is a direct reference at the design narrative under rattan trays. (of which are typically seen operated by groups in traditional practice drying tea leaves)
